Jesus the Way to the Father

'Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling-places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way to the place where I am going.'

Thomas said to him, 'Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?' Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'

Jesus answered him, 'Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.

Prayers At Death
One of the following commendations may be said:
Give rest, O Christ, to your servant with your saints, where sorrow and pain are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting.

You only are immortal, the Creator and maker of all; and we are mortal, formed of the earth, and to earth shall we return, for so did you ordain when you created me, saying "You are dust, and to dust you shall return". All of us go down to the dust; yet even at the grave we make our song: Alleluia, alleluia. alleluia!
Response:
Give rest, O Christ, to your servant with your saints, where sorrow and pain are no more, neither sighing, but life everlasting.

Or

Depart, O Christian soul, out of this world. In the name of God the Father Almighty who created you; In the Name Of Jesus Christ who redeemed you; in the name of the Holy Spirit who sanctifies you, may your rest be this day in peace, and your dwelling place in the paradise Of God.

Or

Loving and merciful God, we entrust our brother/ sister to your mercy. You loved him/her greatly in this life; now that he/she is freed from all its cares, welcome him/her now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus, your Son, and the Holy Spirit, for ever and ever. Amen.
The minister may conclude these prayers with a simple blessing, in these or similar words:
God grant us to share in the inheritance of His saints in glory; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be with us, now and always. Amen.
