Ember Days

In the Anglican Church, Ember Days are days for prayer, fasting, and abstinence, and acts of penitence. They are traditionally kept at the turn of the four seasons (Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday after Advent III, Lent I, the Day of Pentecost, and Holy Cross Day). The Ember Weeks follow Holy Cross Day, the Feast of St. Lucy, the first Sunday in Lent, and Pentecost (Whitsunday).
