Corpus Christi, also known as the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ or the Feast of Corpus Christi, is a liturgical solemnity which commemorates and honours the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
This holy day emphasizes the theological concepts of transubstantiation and/or consubstantiation. The ideas of Memorialism and The Spiritual Presence are also incorporated in the concept. These all deal, in different ways, with how Christains view the Eucharist and how they view the realtionship between the bread and wine and the body and blood of Christ.
This feast is celebrated on the Thursday after the Feast of the Holy Trinity or on the Sunday following. The feast serves as a reminder of the Eucharist's role in Christian worship and is a moment for a reflection on the importance of the Eucharist.
